Program Description

This curriculum prepares graduates to assume beginning staff nurse positions in hospitals, nursing homes, and other health related institutions. Upon successful completion of the major, the graduate is eligible to take the registered nurse licensing examination (NCLEX-RN). With work experience and continuing education, the graduate may develop the ability to assume responsibility for administering or directing the health care of a group of patients/clients.

Graduates find jobs in hospitals, long-term care facilities, home health agencies, state and federal health related facilities, private duty nursing agencies, and within the office practice of physicians, surgeons, and dentists. 


Admission Requirements

  • Completed Admission Application form. THE APPLICATION FEE IS $75.00. THIS FEE IS DEDUCTED FROM THE OVER ALL TUITION.

  • Official high school graduate transcript or GED equivalency certificate. These must be sent directly from the high school to CAPSCARE. No hand carried or faxed transcripts are accepted for official admittance

  • Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended. These must be sent directly from the institution.

  • Passing score on a reading comprehension assessment (waived for minimum ACT score of 20 or associates, bachelor's, or masters degree)

  • Passing scores on the Math Entrance Exams (waived for ACT math subScore of 18 or better)

  • High School graduation is determined by the following criteria: High school must be recognized as a secondary school in the state where it is located; the transcript must include an official date of graduation.

Incoming LPN students  

  • ACT score of 20 or comparable SAT score or 2.5 cumulative college grade point average with a minimum of 20 college level hours completed.

  • Copy of current valid LPN license

  • Pass the LPN Proficiency Exam and LPN Dosage Calculation Exam. Upon achieving the required score on these exams, the LPN is granted 21 transfer credit hours.


Prior Credits

Capscare Academy for Healthcare Education will accept proof of prior partial training received from another institutionn and will upgrade to the required hours necessary for completion. The transferability of Capscare Academy for Healthcare Education credit is at the discretion of the accepting institution, and it is the student’s responsibility to confirm whether or not credits will be accepted by another institution of the student’s choice
